In support of the World Day against Impunity for Crimes against Journalists on 2 November 2016, AMARC launches a worldwide campaign for the safety of journalists that will highlight the work of journalists and producers of community radio.
The campaign aims to strengthen the efforts to reduce the level of impunity for crimes against freedom of expression, since based from a study conducted by UNESCO, 96% of crimes against freedom of expression affect local commercial or community media. This programme is part of AMARC Global Campaign and is in partnership with and support of International Network for Freedom of Expression (IFEX).
Radio stations can participate in this global campaign by producing a radio programme based on the theme and to fight for freedom of expression. The criteria are as follows:
- It should be in a form of documentary, reportage, interview, roundtable, storytelling (format is flexible)
- the audio production must be at least 15 minutes long and ready for on-air broadcast
- Productions in local languages are welcomed (translated script is required)
