ejn_logoThis year’s UNFCCC Climate Change Summit started on November 26 in Doha, Qatar. As a side event on December 4, Internews’ Earth Journalism Network and the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) will host the 2nd Climate Communications Day at the Northwestern University of Qatar.

Those who cannot participate to the Climate Communications Day (registration can be done online here) can follow discussions online using the Twitter hashtag #CCommsDay.

During the event BBC Media Action will present for the first time preliminary findings from Climate Asia – Asia’s largest ever public survey on public understandings of climate change. A panel of experts from around the world will assess the results trying to answer the question of how to put people’s information needs at the heart of climate change communication.

The sessions will include presentations of new mapping and visualization tools being developed by Google Earth, Ushahidi and others for journalists and communicators to display scientific data in an appealing and meaningful way and panel discussions on climate comedy and participatory games as useful means to communicate climate change.

More details and the full draft programme of the event are available here
