As part of its efforts to provide radio training for broadcasters across Africa, Farm Radio International in collaboration with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), is launching a free 11-week online course for radio broadcasters in sub-Saharan Africa. It will be offered in English and begin in September 2012.
The course focuses on designing a regular (daily or weekly) farmer program to serve small-scale farmers in a station’s listening area. Completely online, the Farm Program eCourse will equip broadcasters in sub-Saharan Africa with the tools to design a more effective and engaging regular farming program. Participants of this course will learn about their audience and their needs, effective storytelling, resources required in a radio program, and feedback. Individuals working at radio stations in sub-Saharan Africa are encouraged to participate.
