Making All Voices Count is a global initiative that supports innovation, scaling-up and research to enable citizen engagement and government responsiveness.

The aim of Making All Voices Count is to push towards effective democratic governance and accountability, closing the feedback loop between citizens and government. It focuses on creative and cutting-edge solutions, including those that use mobile and web technology, to ensure the voices of all citizens are heard and that governments have the capacity, as well as the incentive, to listen and respond.

Three grant windows are available on: 1. Innovation – 2. Scaling – 3. Research and Evidence. The first call for proposals is now open to individuals (Innovation grants only), universities, academic institutes, research institutes, non-government associations, charities, faith-based organisations, community-based organisations, not-for-profit and for-profit companies and corporations, social enterprises and government, as well as private sector companies and entrepreneurs with a keen focus on development.

Proposals with a direct impact in one of the following countries will be eligible: Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda. The application form is available online, the deadline for application is November 8, 2013.

Making All Voices Count is implemented by a consortium consisting of Hivos (lead organisation), the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and Ushahidi. The initiative is supported by the U.K Department for International Development (DFID), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Open Society Foundations (OSF) and Omidyar Network (ON)
