Radio Conference

The Radio Conference: A Transnational Forum 2013 will be held on 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th July 2013 in the Luton New Campus Centre of the University of Bedfordshire.

Luton is situated in the county of Bedfordshire in the midst of the Chiltern Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is also at the centre of the UK’s transport network.

This conference aims to provide a forum for radio scholars, teachers and broadcasters from all parts of the world. The 2013 conference will build on the progress achieved at previous conferences in:

  • 2011: Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand
  • 2009: York University, Toronto, Canada,
  • 2007: University of Lincoln, UK
  • 2005: RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia
  • 2003: University of Madison, Wisconsin, US
  • 2001: University of Sussex, UK

In July 2013, the University of Bedfordshire is proud to be hosting this prestigious international event for all radio thinkers and doers. The conference is organised by a local and an international committee and is held in association with the Radio Studies Network (a part of MeCCSA).

The University of Bedfordshire hosts Radio LaB 97.1fm, a fully licensed community radio station for our students and the local area. Radio LaB will be broadcasting during the conference and will be broadcasting conference material and discussion.

We encourage scholars, teachers and broadcasters to consider contributions from local, national or international perspectives. We actively encourage diverse approaches and interests in the field of radio studies and welcome the inclusion of all radio related themes. Some broad thematic areas for consideration are:

  • community and local radio
  • public service and commercial radio
  • music radio
  • radio histories
  • global radio stories
  • radio pedagogies
  • radio and social impact
  • radio and new media technologies
  • defining cultural identities on radio

P.S tapos na po yung call for papers pero ok pa din po yung conference
