UNICEF Innovation Fund willing to invest in tech innovations for children

UNICEF is looking to provide investment-style funding to early-stage tech startups that is willing to express their interest to fund open source technology solutions for children until 26 February 2016. Eligible institutions will be issued with Institutional Contracts with a selected number of successful vendors for a period of one year. 

UNICEF will consider applications for funding of approximately up to US$100,000.

Projects funded need to increase the ability of children to access informtion and to increase opportunity and choice. Specifically, projects should align with one of UNICEF Innovation’s three portfolio areas:

1. Products for youth under 25

2. Real-time information for decision-making

3. Infrastructure to increase access to services and information

These three areas are ripe for investment due to rapidly changing thecnologies such as blockchain, 3D printing, wearables and sensors, artifical intelligence and renewable energy.
