UNICEF is a lead development agency in Communication for Development. It has a strong track record of amplifying the voices of children and communities and harnessing the power of communication to promote child survival, development, protection and participation. UNICEF supports social mobilization, advocacy and behaviour and social change campaign. Since 2007, UNICEF has reinvigorated its work in Communication for Development with a view to obtaining stronger programme results and greater traction for policy change to benefit children, their families, communities and societies.
Capacity development initiatives: UNICEF has produced learning resources on how to plan, design and implement communication campaigns and support community-based development projects.
