UN-FAO announces winner, finalists of Innovations for and by Family Farmer Video Contest

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UN-FAO) announced the winner and finalists of the Innovations for and by Family Farmer Video Contest, which are from Latin America and Asia, on its website on September 30, 2024.

Titled “Between beehives and roots, the story of a farming family in northern Chile,” the winning entry was about a beekeeper and fruit farmer named Aroldo Gaete, who is passionate and dedicated about utilizing various sustainable farming methods amid climatic challenges in his area.

Meanwhile, the finalists of the contest were as follows:

  • “Solar drovers” – Argentina
  • “Sonia Reiman: growing alongside the Programme of Indigenous Territorial Development (PDTI) of the Agricultural Development Institute (INDAP)”  – Chile
  • “Agriculture in Family Farming” – Kyrgyzstan
  • “Collective Responsibility In Family Farming for Rural & Urban Connectivity” – India

UN-FAO also expressed its gratitude for the widespread reception of the contest, having received 191 videos submitted by 108 participants from 43 countries that depict the diversity of sustainable family farming practices and the leadership and dedication of family farmers all over the world.

UN-FAO will continue to share the submitted videos on its Family Farming Knowledge Platform to further inspire valuable insights on the various development dimensions of family farming.
