The CCComDev Team was able to identify possible collaborations with the the University of Reading (UoR) – School of Agriculture, Policy, and Development during a meeting held on with Dr. Sarah Cardey and Prof. Henny Osbahr on 24 October 2022 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños College of Development Communication.
Small-scale farmers in rural areas positively contribute to the nutrition and health status of the world’s population as they play a huge part in the food production process. However, studies show that some rural segments in different regions are underdeveloped and facing significant challenges because of poor investments on rural development.
Crop science for family farms certainly help the poor gain from globalization. The increase in high-employment farms and crops will promote additional employment, increased productivity, increased food output, and income growth from small-scale family farmers.
The UN Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028 (UNDFF) will host its first Global Forum on 19-22 September 2022, three years after its implementation.
The FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean has announced a call for proposals for the Sessions of Experience and Knowledge Exchange on Family Farming as part of their Regional Technical Platform.
