Rome, Italy / Global — On October 16, 2025,  the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) will celebrate World Food Day with a powerful call to action bringing the world together in ensuring that everyone, everywhere, has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food. This year’s theme: Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future is more than a celebration as not only does it mark the global movement to transform food agrisystem, but also marks the 80th anniversary of FAO.

For the month of October, hundreds of events and initiatives across 150 countries will make a collective action to celebrate the World Food Day promoting worldwide awareness of hunger to promote action for food, people, and planet sustainability, leaving no one behind. Participating nations will highlight local initiatives that foster agriculture, nutrition, food innovation, and education. With that, FAO is also calling on the public to join the movement and share their dedication online using hashtags #WorldFoodDay, #FAO80, and #FoodHeroes.
