Development communication as a field of study and practice in the Philippines has already gained local and international recognition. Pioneered in the 1970s by Dr. Nora C. Quebral it has contributed in catalyzing, facilitating, and sustaining social changes and development goals in the country.
The 2nd National Conference of the Consortium of Development Communication Educators and Practitioners of the Philippines (CDCEPP) will gather a pool of educators and practitioners at Isabela, Philippines, on November 9-10, 2012. Participants to this nationwide event will come from research institutions, agencies and communities concerned with the theory and practice of development communication in different fields locally and internationally.
This year’s conference highlights distinguished papers and articles on communication for development and knowledge management. The topics will include among others: trends in ComDev education and practice; trends in ComDev research; communication in the social enterprise; community media; climate and environment; and science communication.
Collaborative Change Communication (CCComDev) and ComDev Asia platforms will be presented to encourage participants to join our growing community of ComDev practitioners working at regional and global level.
CDCEPP is a SEC-registered professional organization of Filipinos who are committed to “promote the ideals of development communication as a field of study and practice which contributes to community development and nation-building through meaningful and relevant communication ” and “work together with shared dreams for the nation and recognizing communication as the creative force of community-centered, culturally-sensitive, and process-oriented social change.” Its head office is located at the College of Development Communication, University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), College, Laguna.
