Call for Session Proposals to the 19th Global Development Conference

The Global Development Network (GDN), a public international organization aimed at promoting research for development, will hold the 19th Global Development Conference on 23-25 October 2019 in Bonn, Germany.

Bearing the theme “Knowledge for Sustainable Development: The Research-Policy Nexus,” the conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, representatives of international organizations, civil society, development practitioners, and the private sector. GDN has partnered with the following institutions for the said event: German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research/Innovation Campus Bonn (ICB), the German Development Institute/Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), and the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS).

Interested organizations are encouraged to submit session proposals (title and abstract with not more than 500 words) on or before 31 May 2019, 11:59 PM IST. Proposed sessions should address any of the following themes: 

  • From research to sustainable development action: Interdisciplinary research, knowledge sharing, evidence brokering;
  • The global and shared challenges of sustainable development: Migration, climate change, health, etc.;
  • Next frontier challenges: Big Data, AI, digital transformation; and
  • Greater local ownership and sustainability: Implications for research policies and funding.
