Radio for the international day of indigenous peoples

indigenousday2011

indigenousday2011AMARC is inviting radio broadcasters to submit audio programs on indigenous peoples and minority languages. This is in line with AMARC’s initiative to underline the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People by making available to its members and people at large radio programs on the different issues concerning the indigenous peoples and minority languages.

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People will be celebrated on August 9th.  The UN General Assembly marks this particular day to raise awareness on the serious situation in which are living more than 500 millions of natives all over the world. Several indigenous communities are claiming their land right and are persecuted because of this. Their right to use their own language is often denied, neither they can access in equitable conditions community radio stations, with the consequence that their voices are not heard.

Audio programs and/or written documents should be submitted via https://www.wetransfer.com before July 31, 2012. Wetransfer is a web based transfer platform for large files directly over the Internet bypassing email and FTP systems. For emails, please write to AMARC International Secretariat at secretariat@si.amarc.org.

The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) brings together a network of more than 4,000 community radios, federations and community media stakeholders in more than 130 countries. AMARC advocates for the right to communicate at the international, national, local and neighbourhood levels and defends and promotes the interests of the community radio movement through solidarity, networking and cooperation.
